According to Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev, the initiative of the Bank of Russia to create a compensation fund for investors who have suffered due to the blocking of foreign assets “requires discussion.” He did not specify which aspects of the regulator’s idea need to be discussed.
“Income that comes to account C on securities: dividends, coupons to be redeemed. The idea… The Central Bank, you heard, is promoting it, but, in my opinion, it needs to be discussed,” Mr. Moiseev said during the Mosfinforum (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Earlier today, September 8, the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina reportedthat the regulator is discussing the idea of creating a compensation fund on the basis of the Deposit Insurance Agency for investors affected by the sanctions. In her opinion, this mechanism will help solve the problem of frozen assets and loss of investor confidence.
