The work of Nord Stream will resume after the contract work on the repair of the turbine is completed. Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov told reporters about this on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
“[Прокачка возобновится,] as soon as the issue is resolved in accordance with the contractual obligation to repair the turbine, ”said the head of the Ministry of Energy (quote according to TASS).
September 2Gazprom” completely suspended gas transportation at the Nord Stream gas pipeline due to a turbine malfunction, which was identified during routine maintenance. When they are together with representatives Siemens inspections at the unit found oil leaks at terminals, cable connections and elsewhere.
According to Siemens, the elimination of leaks is possible only in the conditions of a repair enterprise, and there is no place to repair turbines due to sanctions. Gazprom noted that the operation of a faulty gas compressor unit is contrary to the norms of Russian legislation, so the company was forced to suspend its operation.
On August 31, Gazprom stopped the only gas pumping unit operating at Portovaya due to scheduled repairs. In the absence of technical malfunctions, it was planned to resume pumping on September 3rd.
Problems with turbines arose due to sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia. Due to restrictions earlier, Canada was not able to return the equipment after repairs to Russia. As a result of negotiations with Germany, Ottawa agreed to transfer all six turbines undergoing maintenance in Montreal to Gazprom and sent one of them to Germany. However, Gazprom never accepted the turbine due to legal uncertainty.
