The head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, said that the lost gas supplies due to leaks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines can be replaced through a hub in Turkey. According to him, this can be done through the South Stream, the construction of which was canceled earlier.
“You know, nothing is impossible. I would like to remind you that we have experience in preparing for the implementation of the South Stream project – it was originally planned for a capacity of 63 billion cubic meters of gas. Therefore, even if we talk about the technical documentation for the development of the route, then for the South Stream all this was already done at one time,” said Alexey Miller.
At the end of September, there were explosions at Nord Stream. All parties believe that sabotage was committed. No one took responsibility for what happened. Gazprom reported that large sections of the gas pipeline were flooded with water, repairs may require the replacement of a significant part of the pipes.
In October, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informedthat the Department of Energy is working on the construction of a new gas hub. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin approached him with such a proposal.
