Microsoft will not block access to cloud services for individuals in the Russian Federation - Kommersant

The American Microsoft informed corporate clients that it would not block access to its products for individuals in the Russian Federation on the night of March 20-21, RTVI reports, citing a source in the IT market. On March 15, Microsoft sent Russian companies a warning to block access to several cloud products. Microsoft cloud services will be blocked only for legal entities registered in Russia.

The RTVI report states that the exact list of Microsoft products subject to restrictions has not yet been published. According to the TV channel, the blocking will most likely affect all cloud services. The list published by RTVI includes:

  • video conferencing system Microsoft Teams;
  • cloud storage Microsoft OneDrive;
  • cloud platform Microsoft Azure;
  • set of web services Microsoft Office 365 (including Excel);
  • database management system Microsoft SQL Server;
  • a package of products for managing the corporate IT environment Microsoft System Center.

The outage will also affect free versions of the Power BI Pro analytics platform, Azure Devops program and educational products. MS Visio and Office keys will also be blocked. Whether Microsoft intends to delete data from Russian companies from the cloud storage is currently unknown, RTVI clarifies.
