Microsoft announces plans to cut 10,000 employees

Microsoft intends to lay off 10,000 employees by the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2023. About it announced CEO Satya Nadella, whose statement is published in the official block of the company.

“Today, we are making changes that will result in a total headcount reduction of 10,000 jobs through the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2023. This represents less than 5% of our total workforce,” Nadella said.

Then the CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, said that he takes responsibility for the current situation. Meta will pay laid-off employees 16 weeks of base salary as severance pay, plus two additional weeks for each year they work at the company. The corporation will also waive all non-key spending and extend the moratorium on hiring until the end of the first quarter of 2023.
