Izvestia: mass production of IP video surveillance cameras is planned in Russia

In the Russian Federation, mass production of IP-surveillance cameras may begin, the newspaper reported “News” with reference to the government-approved roadmap New Industrial Software.
An IP camera is a digital video camera, a feature of which is the transmission of a video stream in digital format. Each IP camera on the network has its own IP address.
According to the publication, during 2023-2024 it is planned to establish mass production of cameras and build distribution channels. During this period, it is planned to deliver at least 1 million devices, follows from the document. The organizers of the project and the customers of the cameras are Rostelecom and ER-Telecom Holding. The Ministry of Digital Development is responsible for the implementation of production. The press service of the department told the publication that Elektra LLC will be engaged in the production of cameras.
The newspaper cites statistics from the TelecomDaily analytical agency, according to which 5 million CCTV cameras were installed in Russia in 2022, which is a record figure. According to preliminary data, more than 21 million cameras have been installed in Russia by 2022. Russia ranks third in the world in this indicator after the United States and China, the agency said.
