Maximum rates on ruble deposits grow for the fourth month in a row

The Bank of Russia (CB) has studied the maximum interest rates on deposits in Russian rubles of ten credit institutions that attract the largest volume of deposits from individuals. In the first ten days of November, the maximum rate amounted to 6.98% against 6.84% in the third decade of October.
When monitoring, the regulator takes into account the data of Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Alfa-Bank, Rosselkhozbank, FC Otkritie Bank, Raiffeisenbank, Tinkoff Bank, Promsvyazbank and Sovcombank.
By estimated VTB, despite the stabilization of the key rate, the size of the average rates on ruble deposits in Russian banks since the beginning of October increased by 0.5 percentage points and amounted to 7.2% per annum. At the same time, the average yield on savings accounts in these banks decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 5.1% per annum.
The maximum interest rate was fixed in the first decade of March – 20.51%. Since then, the rate has been declining and hit a low of 6.54% by the end of September.
