The head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that car production at the former Volkswagen plant is planned to be restarted in the first half of 2024. He added that the new owner of the Russian business of the Art-Finance company had found a foreign technology partner.
“The Art-Finance company owns the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, for which an industrial foreign partner has been found. In Kaluga, production of the first products should begin in the first half of 2024,” Mr. Manturov told the agency TASS.
In July 2023, Volkswagen confirmed sale of Russian assets to Art-Finance for €125 million. Prior to this, the Russian subsidiary of the German automaker changed name on AGR Automotive Group.
