The manufacturer of luxury cars Aurus and Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, were ready for US sanctions, said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. According to him, the companies had a plan for this eventuality.
“I can’t say that we didn’t expect them or weren’t ready for them. All companies that receive such “news” are naturally ready for it and always have a plan “B,” said Mr. Manturov (quoted from RIA Novosti).
Aurus is the first Russian luxury car brand. Its largest shareholder is FSUE NAMI (63.5%), another 36% of shares is held by the UAE Defense, Security and Development Fund Tawazun, 0.5% is held by Sollers. In November 2023 in the UAE started assembly of Aurus cars.
US Treasury expanded anti-Russian sanctions on February 23. The restrictions also included the PIK group, the Pipe Metallurgical Company, and the Zvezda shipbuilding complex.
