Mamut and Trust signed an agreement on the settlement of claims for the billionaire’s debts

The National Bank “Trust” and businessman Alexander Mamut came to an agreement on the settlement of claims for the entrepreneur’s debt, which in 2020 was estimated at 23.5 billion rubles, reported RBC chairman of the board of the credit institution Alexander Sokolov. Settlement of debt claims was confirmed to the publication by Mr. Mamut and a representative of his investment holding A & NN Investments.

“The parties entered into a general agreement and finally agreed on a comprehensive and complete settlement of all relations between the group of companies of Alexander Mamut structures and the bank, taking into account the interests of both parties. In the near future, formal legal actions will be taken that will fix the agreements,” Mr. Sokolov said.

The chairman of the board of the bank did not disclose the details of the agreement, noting that the parties had come to a compromise that suited them.

As Alexander Mamut told RBC, he understands that the tough position of Trust in the negotiations was determined by the bank’s responsibility to the Central Bank. He noted that specialists from both sides did a great job, which helped to establish a dialogue, build relationships with a credit institution and peacefully resolve disputes.

As of 2020, the structures of Mr. Mamut owed Trust about 23.5 billion rubles, of which 19.8 billion rubles. belonged to the Cinema Park cinema chain, and 2.5 billion rubles to Vanderkind JSC, which manages the Winnie children’s toy store chain (formerly under the Hamleys brand). The amount of debt also included overdue payments on loans for 1.1 billion rubles.

In 2021, Cinema Park filed four claims for loan restructuring against Trust. The debt of the cinema network at the time of filing the claims exceeded 2.8 billion rubles. In September 2022 Alexander Mamut left post of head of the board of directors in the cinema network. At the end of May 2023, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation refused reconsider the decisions of three lower instances that refused the Trust bank to lift the arrest from 100% of the shares of the Cinema Park company. June 29, Mr. Mamut and Trust announced about the resumption of negotiations on the repayment of the businessman’s debts.
