The pasta manufacturer Makfa and the bread and bakery products manufacturer Smak continue to operate as usual, despite the arrest of the accounts and assets of the owners. This is reported on the companies’ websites.

Earlier, the suspension of the companies’ work was denied by the official representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office Andrei Ivanov. He noted that the seizure of funds will not affect the payment of salaries.

At the end of March, the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a lawsuit in the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk against the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevich and ex-State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov, as well as 11 other individuals and 34 companies. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the assets of Makfa and Smak are of corruption origin, since the beneficiaries Mikhail Yurevich and Vadim Belousov were engaged in business while holding government positions. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9.

On April 1, Kommersant reported that bailiffs, due to the lack of assessment of the defendants’ property, estimated Makfa’s funds seized as state income at 100 trillion rubles.
