Against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19, the Magnit retail store chain decided to “strengthen anti-COVID measures and take care of customers and employees.” Today, August 23, the network introduced a number of restrictive measures, including a mask regime for retailer employees. The company also said that they had created a stockpile of personal protective equipment for staff.

“From today, the company introduces a mandatory mask regime for store employees. It begins to operate for the staff of retail outlets of all formats in all 67 regions of the company’s presence, as well as for employees of all 45 distribution centers. The retail chain has decided to strengthen measures to protect employees and customers from coronavirus infection against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence in the country,” Magnit said in a statement (quoted from TASS).

The company also stated that it intends to achieve vaccination of 80% of the staff.

The company noted that they continue to disinfect premises and surfaces, and will also carry out cleaning in stores and logistics complexes more often.

During the pandemic, Magnit held breaks for disinfection, suspended the work of cafes, and equipped cash desks with protective screens. In stores, markings were applied near the cash registers to maintain social distance.

The increase in the incidence of coronavirus began in August. The maximum figure since March was recorded on August 20 – more than 40 thousand infected. Due to the increase in the number of patients Rospotrebnadzor recommended that people from vulnerable groups wear masks in public places. Later, the service advised regions where the incidence is above 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to return the mask regime. At present, this mode valid in Tatarstan, Dagestan, Gorny Altai, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Novosibirsk and Vologda regions.
