Lufthansa statedthat by the end of 2025 it will need to hire 2 thousand pilots. This is due to the fact that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the number of air travel fell sharply, the airline actively cut staff: in two years its staff was reduced from just under 140 thousand people to 100 thousand. This summer, Lufthansa, like many other airlines , in conditions of sharp growth in demand air transportation faced a shortage of personnel and was forced cancel flights.

In September, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr already statedthat the company will hire 20 thousand new employees by the end of 2023. Now Lufthansa has launched a pilot recruitment campaign, with the airline noting that it is looking to hire both seasoned professionals and newbies. At the same time, the company said that it has no difficulties with hiring and that many candidates come to Lufthansa for such positions, so there are no longer any registrations for the upcoming pilot courses that the airline conducts.
