According to the results of the first quarter, loading on the network Russian Railways decreased by 0.8% in annual terms, amounting to 305.5 million tons, reported in the press office of the company.
“Loading in January-March 2023, according to operational data, amounted to 305.5 million tons, which is 0.8% less than in the same period last year,” the message says.
At the same time, in March, loading increased by 2.3% compared to March 2022, amounting to 109.1 million tons. Cargo turnover in March increased by 0.7%, amounting to 236.3 billion tariff ton-km.
The largest increase in the first three months was shown by the loading of grain (+36%, to 7.6 million tons) and building materials (+17.5%, to 31 million tons), the loading of hard coal increased by 0.7% (to 91. 8 million tons), and non-ferrous ore and sulfur raw materials – by 1% (up to 4.3 million tons). At the same time, the largest decrease was shown by the loading of timber cargo (-21.6%, to 6.9 million tons), ferrous scrap (-13.6%, to 2.5 million tons), as well as chemicals and soda (-13. 1%, up to 5.4 million tons).
Cargo turnover for the first quarter increased by 2.6% and amounted to 677.3 billion tariff ton-km. Taking into account the run of empty cars, the freight turnover increased by 1.6% and amounted to 842.8 billion ton-km.
As previously reported, loading on the network Russian Railways at the end of 2022 decreased by 3.8% compared to 2021, amounting to 1 billion 234.3 million tons. According to Russian Railways, the transportation of timber cargo (-24.8%), ferrous scrap (-21, 5%), coke (-15.7%), as well as industrial raw materials and molding materials (-13.1%).
