Trucks registered in the European Union cannot cross the border of Russia or Belarus through Lithuania, it is said in message on the Lithuanian customs website. The restriction applies to empty trucks, that is, traveling without cargo, as indicated in the material.
The Lithuanian customs service clarified that the measure is applied in accordance with European Union regulations, which prohibit the export of cars to Russia and Belarus or the transit of such equipment through Russia. The exception, as stated in the message, applies to trucks transporting goods from the customs territory of the European Union.
On December 19, the Lithuanian customs service announced tightening rules for the export and transit of sanctioned goods through Russia and Belarus. According to the new rules, manufacturers are required to provide a special declaration for sanctioned goods. Otherwise, the cargo will not be released outside the European Union.
