The Russian government has approved a list of checkpoints where they will introduce an electronic queue system for trucks, informs cabinet press office.
From September 1, 2023, electronic queues will begin to operate at the Bugristoye checkpoints on the border with Kazakhstan, Zabaikalsk on the border with China, and Chernyshevskoye on the border with Lithuania. They already have the road infrastructure necessary for the introduction of the new mechanism – sections of roads or storage areas near checkpoints to accommodate trucks of participants in the electronic queue, the report says.
The Cabinet clarified that the date and time of crossing the border can be reserved in advance through a special free service on the Rosgranstroy website. This mechanism will reduce the waiting time at checkpoints, as well as reduce business costs from forced downtime.
From March 1, 2024, carriers will be able to book the date and time of crossing the border on the State Services portal or in the state information system of electronic transportation documents. You will need to indicate the state registration number of the truck, the type of transportation and contact details. In case of changing plans, no later than three hours before crossing the border, the date and time can be rescheduled.
In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed law governing border crossings by trucks.
