Kusturica plans to visit new regions of the Russian Federation – Kommersant

Serbian director and musician Emir Kusturica intends to visit the regions annexed to the Russian Federation a year ago. He answered the corresponding question positively TASS at the site of the Alexander Fortress festival in Ust-Labinsk, Krasnodar Territory. He did not provide other details of the planned visit.
Mr. Kusturica also said that in 2024 he will begin work on a film based on “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky. According to him, “there is already money.” The director did not rule out that one of the locations would be Krasnodar. Mr. Kusturica is also considering the possibility of making a film based on Yevgeny Vodolazkin’s novel “Laurel.”
Emir Kusturica is a Yugoslav and Serbian director, winner of two Palme d’Or and a Golden Lion. He supported Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the deployment of troops to Ukraine.
