The Voskhod company of Nikita Kozhemyaki, the son of the governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyaki, won the auction for the sale of quotas for the annual catch of 150 tons of crab in the West Sakhalin subarea for 15 years. About this “Kommersant” reported bidders.
According to them, Voskhod agreed to pay 1.65 billion rubles for quotas, which exceeds the starting price of 78.22 million rubles. 21 times. The newspaper failed to get a comment from the winner of the auction.
In the Federal Agency for Fishery, competition at the auction is explained by the high profitability of the crab fishing business. The agency noted that the proceeds will go to the federal budget.
A total of 11 companies participated in the auction, including Igor Mikhnov’s Antey, Corvette (part of Nakhodka Active Marine Fishing Base PJSC), Sea Breeze (Magadanrybflot structure) and Atlantic Crab (part of GK “Russian Crab” Gleb Frank). The “Russian Crab” edition confirmed their participation in the auction. The rest of the companies did not respond to the request.
At the same time, the interlocutor of the newspaper on the market believes that Voskhod overpaid for quotas. He noted that the company “will be difficult to recoup the investment.” Chairman of the Board of Directors of the North-West Fishing Consortium Dmitry Ozersky calculated that Voskhod acquired the rights to harvest crab at the rate of $180 per 1 kg. According to him, in 2019, in the Far East, the caught crab at the auction cost $60 per 1 kg.
The limited resource increases its value, explains another interlocutor of the publication. Now quotas for the extraction of crabs are distributed only in two countries – in Russia (27,500 tons, which is 94% of the world volume) and Norway (1,800 tons). At the same time, only 10% of crabs in Russian waters, including Kamchatka ones, are considered valuable.
