My.Games is looking for a buyer for its Boosty content monetization service. By data Kommersant’s sources, the VK holding may become the buyer of the asset.
According to the publication, My.Games plans to “restructure” Boosty, in which the platform will be transferred to a separate Russian legal entity. It will be sold, as expected, before the end of this year.
According to Finam’s senior investment consultant Timur Nigmatullin, the value of the asset could be from $10 million, and the newspaper’s source on the market believes that VK, which already has its own VK Donut platform, could become its buyer. The holding itself did not comment on this issue.
After foreign payment systems left Russia, it became more difficult for content authors to pay for a subscription and withdraw funds from the Patreon service (in August 2022, access to it restricted RKN), thanks to which the audience of Boosty and VK Donut has grown dramatically. So, according to the results of last year, the number of registrations of authors on Boosty increased tenfold at once, the average donation amount was 2,000 rubles.
In September last year VK announced on the sale of the gaming division My.Games for $642 million to LETA Capital by Alexander Chachava. The deal included all of My.Games’ assets, including the company’s studios and game products. Later in December My.Games singled out Russian division into an independent company Astrum Entertainment and left Russia.
