Kommersant learned about Tchibo’s plans to change its name in Russia to Tibio

The former division of Tchibo in Russia, Chibo CIS LLC, will change its name to Tibio LLC and launch the Tibio brand. About it reports Kommersant with reference to the company’s letters to retail chains and the Tibio presentation.
According to the materials, the recipe and technology of coffee production will not change, and the company will also maintain “maximum continuity” of packaging design. According to Rospatent, the Tibio brand was registered in September 2023.
The company’s presentation states that the transition to the new name will begin at the end of 2023 as the old packaging is phased out. The Tibio logo will be similar in style to Tchibo, and the color scheme of the packaging and the names of the Gold Selection and Gold Mokka lines will remain the same. At the same time, the Exclusive line will change its name to Arabica Exclusive.
At the end of 2023, the company also plans to introduce Tibio Barista grain coffee in the premium segment, the newspaper writes. Coffee will be sold in 1 kg packages.
German coffee producer Tchibo left the Russian market after the start of a Russian special operation in Ukraine. Coffee production took place at the Grand-NN factory in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and Chibo CIS imported part of its products from foreign sites.
In July 2022 “Chibo CIS” moved to MVK, the general director of Chibo CIS, Mikhail Kovalevsky. At the same time, the share of MVK is pledged to Tchibo GmbH. A Kommersant source familiar with the situation then claimed that until the end of 2022, Chibo CIS will be able to use the Tchibo and Davidoff brands, and after that the company will continue supplies under a new name.
