Kommersant learned about layoffs at Russian Post due to new wage rules

Employees of the Russian Post began to leave en masse due to the introduction of new wage rules, according to which the distribution of salaries of vacant positions among existing employees was limited. About it informed “Kommersant” with reference to the order of the company and sources.

The decision to introduce the new rules was made in May. In addition to limiting the distribution of free salaries, the management of the Russian Post also decided to reduce the number of vacant positions. As a result, the salaries of employees who previously could receive five salaries for three have been reduced, which led to layoffs.

According to the text of the order, now employees can receive up to 50% of the official salary for a vacant position or the position of a temporarily absent employee. At the same time, a position can be completely filled for no more than three months, and one employee should account for no more than 50% of the work in this position.

In addition, the document says that one vacancy can be filled by no more than five employees at the same time, with the exception of the heads of post offices and their deputies. In the case of an increase in the volume of work, employees will receive up to 25% of the salary of an absent colleague, but this payment is provided for only one month. These restrictions also apply to management personnel.

According to a member of the Board of Directors of Russian Post and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein, he is aware of the company’s initiative to reduce the number of vacancies not occupied by employees in different regions. “She [инициатива о сокращении] indeed led to certain unrest and excesses in remote rural areas. We expect the company to reconsider its approach,” he said.

In turn, the Russian Post stated that they did not change the payroll system. “The order puts into effect a regulation on remuneration, in which we took into account the restrictions on the maximum possible total personal remuneration of the management team. There is no question of any reduction in the main personnel, ”the press service of the company said. In addition, an additional 1,000 bets will be opened soon as part of the Ozon branch pickup project.

According to Kommersant, the decision to impose restrictions is connected with the difficult financial situation of the company, the main part of whose expenses is the payment of salaries to employees, servicing loans and updating branches. At the same time, the situation worsened against the backdrop of the loss of a large part of international trade and postal communications with several countries. At the end of 2022, the net loss of the Russian Post under RAS increased to 27.22 billion rubles. against net profit in 2021 at the level of 265.99 million rubles. According to the results of the first quarter of this year, the net loss amounted to 5.07 billion rubles.
