Kommersant: Antinori wine house has suspended deliveries to Russia

The Italian wine house Antinori has suspended deliveries to Russia. About it informs Kommersant, citing three sources in large alcohol companies.
According to two interlocutors of the newspaper, the decision is connected with the “geopolitical crisis”, because of which the company does not want to cooperate with Russia. At the same time, one of the sources specified that the EU sanctions on the ban on the supply of alcohol to Russia for more than 300 euros have nothing to do with it.
Another source claims that Antinori’s relationship with MBG Wine’s distributor has deteriorated. He admits that disagreements could also arise over the terms of cooperation.
The head of the board of directors of MBG Wine, Irina Fomina, confirmed the suspension of the supply of Antinori wines, the reason was not specified. She noted that the contract with the company remains in force. Fomina assured that MBG Wine does not need additional supplies, since the distributor has a stock that “fully meets sales plans.” Antinori did not respond to a request.
Antinori is considered one of the oldest wine houses in Italy. It was founded in 1385. The main estates of the winery are located in Tuscany. In the Drinks International 2022 ranking of the most recognized wine brands in the world, Antinori is ranked fifth. At the same time, according to the head of WineRetail Alexander Stavtsev, the company has a small share in the Russian market.
After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, the largest alcohol producers suspended deliveries to Russia. Among them are Pernod Ricard (Chivas Regal, Jameson, Absolut, Ararat), Diageo (Bell’s, Johnnie Walker, Captain Morgan, Baileys), Bacardi (Dewar’s, William Lawson’s), Brown-Forman (Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester) .
