Kismet Capital Group (KCG) of the former head of MegaFon Ivan Tavrin became the owner of more than 20% in HeadHunter Group PLC (owns an online recruitment service in Russia and the CIS HeadHunter), reports RBC with reference to sources. This is the second major Internet asset that entered the company’s portfolio – the completion of the purchase of Avito KCG was announced in October 2022.

“Kismet decided to strengthen its position in HeadHunter because it has long been interested in the classifieds market, and this company demonstrates a good track record and has a strong strategy,” RBC’s interlocutor noted. According to him, the direct investment fund Elbrus Capital was the seller of about 10% more. The amount of the deal is over $100 million. According to RBC’s second interlocutor, the deal has already been reviewed and approved by the government commission for foreign investment control. Representatives for Kismet and HeadHunter declined to comment.

As the interlocutor of RBC specified, Ivan Tavrin “was a long-term partner of the largest shareholders of HeadHunter – Elbrus Capital and Goldman Sachs” and acted as the beneficiary of 10% of the Internet company. At the same time, RBC notes, previously Mr. Tavrin or his structures were not mentioned among the shareholders of HeadHunter. However, from the prospectus for the placement of the company’s shares on NASDAQ, published in 2018, it follows that the structures of Elbrus Capital and Goldman Sachs entered into an agreement with him, according to which they are obliged to pay about 9% of any profit received from investments in HeadHunter.

14 October Naspers-Prosus structure concluded agreement with KCG on the sale of a 100% stake in Avito for RUB 151 billion Information about the closing of the acquisition of Avito was posted in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on October 25.
