Khabensky presented plans for the anniversary year to the troupe

The fact that the famous Mkhatovskaya seagull, which has long become a world brand, will go into space, was announced by Konstantin Khabensky at the gathering of the troupe, opening the 125th season of the legendary theater. Anniversary.

Literally in ten days, the Moscow Art Theater will start touring at Baikonur, and after that, a rocket will be launched into space with the logo of the 125th anniversary of the Moscow Art Theater. On the birthday of the Art Theater, October 26, the astronauts will congratulate the entire planet on its anniversary. During the season, the artistic director promised, the theater would get in touch with the cosmonauts and live share the events of the Moscow Art Theater taking place on Earth.

Well, actually the collection began with a video greeting from the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova. “Colossal work has already been done to prepare the festive anniversary events: large-scale exhibition projects are underway, a themed train runs in the Moscow metro, and the Moscow Art Theater gulls are preparing for their farthest flight into space. Your performances are always sold out. I am sure that the audience will greet the premieres and tours of the anniversary year with a standing ovation, both in the regions of Russia and abroad.”

At the gathering, according to tradition, the anniversaries whose birthdays fell in the summer were congratulated, and Khabensky also introduced the actors who were part of the troupe. These are Sergey Belyaev, Anatoly Kot, Pavel Chinarev, Nikita Buryachek, Margarita Yakimova and Ilya Kozyrev. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Irina Miroshnichenko, who passed away in August.

The main event of the season will be the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko of the Moscow Art Theatre. October 26 is scheduled by the hour: in the afternoon in the Portrait Foyer, commemorative signs “The Seagull” will be handed over to artists, employees of the theater, as well as employees of the Moscow Art Theater Museum and the Studio School. And in the evening, on the Main Stage, the premiere of the performance-dedication “9th row, 10th, 11th place” based on the play by Yulia Pospelova directed by Denis Azarov will take place.

– This is a story about the relationship of people who found each other in the Art Theater. A story about love for the theater, about love in the theater, about the creation of the Stanislavsky system, – commented Konstantin Khabensky.

On the same day, a joint anniversary exhibition of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov and the Moscow Art Theater Museum.

As for the premieres of the new season, their names are impressive. The first one will take place on the Main Stage in October – “Masquerade with Closed Eyes” staged by Pyotr Shereshevsky based on Mikhail Lermontov’s play “Masquerade”. “As You Like It” by Shakespeare will be presented by Yuri Muravitsky. Well, “Theatrical novel” about the life of the Moscow Art Theater of Mikhail Bulgakov will be staged by Denis Azarov. .

Yes, and Konstantin Khabensky himself promised to take a swing at directing and intrigued those present with a statement that he himself would begin to rehearse one notorious play, vitally connected with the Moscow Art Theater.

On the Small Stage, the first premiere will take place at the end of September – “Curtain” based on the play by Andrei Stadnikov and staged by Yuri Kvyatkovsky. The play is documentary, written on the basis of conversations with actresses and workers of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov. “This is a female view of the world of the theater, of what makes people, getting into the space of the Art Theater, stay here forever with love and devotion,” commented Konstantin Khabensky

Directors Elizaveta Bondar (The Hunger based on the novel by Knut Hamsun), Marat Gatsalov (The Stoics based on the play by Dmitry Danilov) and Anton Fedorov (the name is being discussed) were admitted to the small stage.

On the New Stage, the play “The Life of Fyodor Mikhailovich and Alevtina Pavlovna, or Hot Covid Summer” (Director Tatyana Arkhiptsova, play by Yaroslava Pulinovich) is being prepared especially for the People’s Artist of Russia Olga Yakovleva.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, a performance-action “Leningrad Holidays” will be shown with the participation of young pupils of the Moscow studio “Generation Plumage”. The performance will be made on the basis of the collection “Children’s Book of War. Diaries 1941-1945″.

This season, the ARTHAB project will continue, the winners of past laboratories will release their performances – directors Ekaterina Shikhova, Alexander Zolotovitsky, Philip Gurevich. Thus, this season, the repertoire of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov will include 11 new productions.

The traditional “Mkhatov Fridays” with Vadim Vernik and the evenings of Marina Brusnikina’s project “Reading Circle” will continue. Marina Brusnikina is preparing two evenings at the Moscow Art Theater – “Look at the sky and see a star” – he will then go to Baikonur, as well as “My name will not tell you anything” based on letters sent to the Art Theater in the first twenty years of its existence.

The plans include the presentation of the Art Theater Prize, aimed at supporting young talents under 35, the short film competition “Arrival of the Seagull”. Until the end of the year, they promise to present a short film “Animal” based on the script by Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko with the participation of artists of the Moscow Art Theater, filmed by the winner of the last year’s competition, Irina Prokhorova. The theme of this year’s competition is “Pushkin 225”.
