Gazprom and Kazakhstan’s national gas company Qazaqgaz have previously agreed on the route of new gas pipelines from Russia to gasify the northern and eastern regions of the republic. This was announced on April 19 by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev.
According to him, the price of Russian gas for Kazakhstan, which can be used for gasification, will be “many times lower” than in the European market, and “much lower” than for Belarus. “We are given gas at a price much lower, let’s say, than Belarus. Preliminary negotiations are underway. That is, Russia also understands that effective work is possible only in a bilateral mode, and goes forward in terms of providing a price,” the minister said (quoted by Interfax).
