Kazakhstan explained the reasons for the cancellation of the speech of Maxim Galkin – Kommersant

Problems with holding a creative evening of Maxim Galkin (recognized as a foreign agent) in the capital of Kazakhstan are associated with the professional holiday of teachers, the Astana Department of Culture reported in its Telegram channel. The event was to be held on October 8 at the Rosa Baglanova Concert Hall.

“Due to the fact that a concert will be held on October 8 in honor of Teacher’s Day, the organizers of the evening were recommended to choose other dates or another building,” the department explained.

The Department of Culture of Astana added that they are ready to consider the application for this date again – the event in honor of Teacher’s Day will eventually be held at a different concert venue. To do this, the organizers of the creative evening of Maxim Galkin must apply to the department again.

The day before, Mr. Galkin posted a video on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned), in which he said that in Kazakhstan “at the state level they prevent” his speeches.

In June, the representative of the artist in Kazakhstan, Alexei Puchkov, in a conversation with RIA Novosti informed about problems with the organization of concerts in Alma-Ata, scheduled for October. According to Mr. Puchkov, the organizers of the event opened the sale of tickets before signing an agreement with the concert venue. Because of this, the event was postponed to October 8th.
