Kazakhstan allowed oil supplies to Germany to start soon

The Kazakh state company KazMunayGas (KMG) is considering the possibility of sending a batch of oil to Germany in early 2023, transmits company press office.

The report refers to the export of Kazakh oil via the Druzhba pipeline to an oil refinery in Schwedt in the east of Germany (the federal state of Brandenburg). Chairman of the Board of KMG Magzum Mirzagaliyev discussed this issue with the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economy Michael Kellner and Bundestag member Christian Gercke.

“According to the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas is considering the option of a trial shipment of a batch of oil to Germany as early as January 2023,” Mirzagaliyev said.

December 20 President of Transneft Nikolai Tokarev declaredthat the company received requests from Poland and Germany to pump oil, despite reports of reluctance to continue deliveries. He clarified that Poland has submitted applications for December and for the whole of 2023, and Germany – for the first quarter of next year.

The EU countries agreed on a price ceiling for Russian oil of $60 per barrel on December 3, the restriction came into force on December 5, along with a ban on the supply of Russian oil by sea to the EU countries. In addition to the EU countries, the G7 countries, Norway and Australia also joined the ceiling. The restrictions also imply a ban on oil supplies by sea, pipeline supplies via Druzhba are not subject to a ban.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow would not accept the introduction of a ceiling on Russian oil and would prepare an appropriate documentary response, which should be expect soon.
