Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal confirmed legality of the decision of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to initiate proceedings against Apple in 2020. The FAS considered that the company had abused its dominant position in the mobile applications market. Because of this, Apple was fined 906 million rubles. (more than $12 million).
In October 2021, the FAS opened another case against Apple. The regulator found that the American company prohibited Russian developers from informing app buyers in the App Store about alternative payment methods. Prior to this, a California court had already ordered Apple to stop restricting developers from calling for alternative payment acceptance.
