The Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory ordered the Yobidoyobi sushi delivery chain to change its name within three months. The court found the company’s name to be contrary to “well-known principles of humanity and morality” because it is in the public domain and may be associated with profanity. This publication reported ngs24.ru with reference to file cabinet court.
The lawsuit against Yobidoyobi was filed by the local branch of the Federal Tax Service. The company did not provide evidence that its name is a transliteration from the Japanese language of the phrase “The day of the week is Saturday,” writes ngs24.ru.
The Yobidoyebi chain began operating in Krasnoyarsk in 2016. Now she has points in more than 60 cities of Russia.
Because of the name of the company, the architecture department of Krasnoyarsk turned to the Federal Antimonopoly Service in 2016, but then officials found no signs of violations of the law on advertising. In 2021, in Volgograd, the company’s advertisement with the words “Order COONEY LEE” was recognized as inappropriate. In October 2022, the Krasnoyarsk department of the FAS opened a case against Yobidoyobi because of an advertisement with the words “Do you want Chpoki ki?”.
