As follows from the message of the Ministry of Finance of Japan, from September 30, Japanese companies will be able to provide services related to the exploration, production, liquefaction, storage, transportation and transshipment of crude oil and gas at these projects.
Japan in May banned provide construction and engineering services to Russian companies. Also on the sanctions list were 17 individuals and 78 organizations from Russia. Export restrictions affected MegaFon, KamAZ, the Skolkovo Foundation.
The Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 oil and gas projects were transferred to Russian jurisdiction in 2022. The Russian authorities provided foreign shareholders with the opportunity to continue participating in projects. American Exxon and British Shell came out of them. Japanese companies continued participation.
