Japan has expanded the list of goods prohibited for export to Russia to include numerically controlled milling and lathes. It was decided to expand the sanctions after analyzing the weapons that Russia used in hostilities in Ukraine.

An expanded list of goods prohibited for export has been published on website Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. “With the cooperation of leading countries, including our country, based on the results of the analysis and identification of parts used in Russian weapons that were used in Ukraine, we will publish a list of goods,” the release says.

Now the list includes 50 items. Previously, it included five large product sections: integrated circuit parts, communications equipment, diodes, transistors and digital cameras, optical equipment, and semiconductor design and manufacturing parts. Now the list has a sixth section – computer numerical control (CNC) machines. This category included machining centers, horizontal and other CNC lathes, CNC milling machines and parts for various types of machine tools.
