As Nikolai Shulginov notes in his letter, gas production in the Cenomanian deposits of Western Siberia will decrease to 184 billion cubic meters by 2030, and to 73 billion cubic meters by 2040.
Nikolai Shulginov’s letter to the government was sent in December 2022. Izvestia notes that Mr. Shulginov repeated his concerns about the reduction of gas production in Russia in 2023 at a meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Energy on March 28.
Earlier, Kommersant reported that in 2022 gas production in Russia decreased by 11.8%, to 672 billion cubic meters. This happened due to the reduction by Gazprom of gas supplies to Europe to historical lows. In December 2022, the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, said that the volume of gas production in the company by the end of 2022 would be 412.6 billion cubic meters, 100.9 billion cubic meters were intended for supplies to non-CIS countries.
