Several Middle Eastern airlines have resumed accepting Russian Visa and MasterCard cards to pay for tickets, reported “News”. Carriers Air Arabia and Fly Dubai offer to carry out a transaction via a link through the fast payment system (FPS), and in Emirates, buying a ticket is possible using a QR code after requesting details by e-mail.

As Izvestia clarified with reference to the Air Arabia call center, in order to pay for a ticket in St. Petersburg, it is necessary to make a reservation on the website and contact the support service. The fee for issuing each ticket will be 6% of the total amount, the airline said. You can buy a ticket for Fly Dubai flights in the same way, but through an authorized agent, and the fee for his services will be 2,000 rubles, the article says.

At the call center of Emirates, which has established the possibility of paying by QR code, Izvestia was told that you can book a ticket through the support service after requesting the details of the carrier’s Moscow office. They clarified that the confirmation of the purchase may take several days, and the operation must be carried out no later than 10 days before departure. The commission will be 1500 rubles.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine in February 2022, Visa and Mastercard announced their withdrawal from Russia. Now Russians cannot use cards of these payment systems issued by Russian banks abroad, and banks cannot issue new cards. On the territory of Russia, such cards work because they are serviced by the Russian system. Also, some Russian banks have made existing Visa and Mastercard cards unlimited.
