Ivan Stebunov will play Oleg Efremov in the “almost fairy tale” about Galina Volchek

“The girl Galya conquered the whole world”

On December 11, a press conference was held in Moscow dedicated to the history of the creation of the play about Galina Volchek and other founders of Sovremennik, genre-defined as “almost a fairy tale.”

Playwrights Polina Rashkina and Semyon Shomin, director Ivan Komarov and a team of young and young theater actors came to meet with media representatives. The event is dedicated to the upcoming 90th anniversary of Volchek’s birth.

As it became known, the role of Oleg Efremov in the production of “Next – Yourself” went to the famous actor Ivan Stebunov (plus two more of his colleagues).

“I play “Chief” – Oleg Nikolaevich Efremov. But we will not try to imitate the intonation of real people, this is impossible and unnecessary. We strive to recreate only love…” said Stebunov.

“The young team created a theater that has gone down in history,” the artist admired his great predecessors.

Galina Borisovna at her different ages is also played by three actresses. Thus, the very young “girl Galya” is embodied on stage by Anastasia Mishina, a representative of another generation of Melpomene’s servants – she did not know Galina Borisovna personally and did not see her due to her age (Nastya came to the theater in 2023). But Mishina was also “blown by the wind from Volchek,” although she did not absorb the light from her in childhood and youth (these are collective quotes from other speeches).

Mishina is echoed by her “partner” in the role, Victoria Romanenko:

– We wanted to show how important it is to remember your parents. We have a great connection with our founders, with all our “old people”,

Romanenko also emphasized that on her last birthday, Galina Borisovna said something like this: “What a blessing that you can unite and move forward” – and symbolically “gave” the Sovremennik Theater to the young shift.

“She “gave it to us,” assured Romanenko.
