Israeli writer and publicist, classic of modern Israeli literature Meir Shalev, died at the age of 75.
His works have been translated into dozens of languages around the world. The Russian reader is familiar with his “Russian novel” and other works.
Meir Shalev is the same age as the State of Israel. He was born in 1948 and was supposed to celebrate his birthday this July.
“What a pity that we no longer have the necessary expectation of the next new book by Meir Shalev, which will be published and change our life, make it richer, fuller. How sad that we will not be able to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day with him, who was born in 1948,” Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog said in connection with the death of the writer.
