Irina Kupchenko: MIFF’s “I Believe” Award Causes Mixed Feelings

At the 45th Moscow International Film Festival, Irina Kupchenko, People’s Artist of the RSFSR, received the honorary award “I Believe” from the hands of the president of the film forum, Nikita Mikhalkov.

“She is not always recognized on the street,” Nikita Mikhalkov said about Kupchenko, “but this gives her the opportunity to be on the screen absolutely any plus, and never change herself. There are different instruments, there are different violins, they are all more or less similar, but there is a Stradivarius violin. This is Irina Kupchenko.

The popularly beloved actress was awarded the Konstantin Stanislavsky Award “for conquering the heights of acting and loyalty to traditions.”

Irina Kupchenko thanked Mikhalkov for the social and professional activities that he leads, and also thanked the organizing committee of the festival. The actress said that the award has such a loud wording that it causes mixed feelings – “delusions of grandeur with an inferiority complex.” She called her work “the fruit of the efforts of many people – screenwriters, directors, cameramen, partners.” And with gratitude, she listed teachers and colleagues in the acting and directing department: Cecilia Mansurov, Valery Fokina, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Oleg Yankovsky, Yulia Borisov and many others. She expressed her gratitude to the Russian classics, “who made it possible to plunge into the magical world of high feelings, deep thoughts and the beautiful Russian language.” Well, the warmest words were uttered by the artist to the audience, without which her profession “does not make sense.”

About 200 films will be shown at the current MIFF in a week. The festival takes place at 10 venues in Moscow. It includes 15 non-competitive and 4 competitive programs. This year, the key note will be the appeal to the problems of youth, films on this topic are present in every selection and even collected in a special out-of-competition program “Difficult Age”.

The opening ceremony, surprisingly concise and short, was held by Yegor Beroev. On behalf of and on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, Vladimir Medinsky congratulated those present on the start of the festival. On his own behalf, he remarked that it was wonderful that in a rapidly changing world, “such an “island” as the Moscow Film Festival remains unchanged and stable.”

Nikita Mikhalkov said that “from 35 countries they came to us, they were not afraid!” many guests, and introduced the chairman of the jury of the main competition.

– I am proud to be the chairman of the jury. Moreover, the president of the festival is Nikita Mikhalkov. This moment will forever remain in my memory,” said the leading Indian cinematographer Rahul Ravel from the stage.

The festival opened with the film “Bullfinch”, about which we have already written in detail. And the next day, the program of Russian cinema, which enjoys the constant attention of critics and spectators, started.

Svetlana Astresova, Heavenly Team by Vladimir Alenikov, Rabies by Dmitry Dyachenko, One Real Day by Georgy Shengelia, Temple by Rauf Kubaev and others. The opening ceremony was traditionally accompanied by a parade of outfits of our beautiful actresses, who happily posed on the red carpet for hundreds of photographers from around the world.
