Iran, with the participation of Russia, Turkmenistan and Qatar, plans to create a gas hub in the industrial region of Asaluyeh in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr, located on the coast of the Persian Gulf. This was announced by the country’s oil minister Javad Ouji. His words are quoted by the agency Tasnim.

The Minister drew attention to the high probability of successful implementation of the gas hub in the Persian Gulf, since Iran has the second largest gas reserves in the world. In addition, Iran has fully fulfilled its obligations on gas imports over the past 20 months to Turkmenistan. According to Mr. Ouji, the necessary preparation and planning of the stages of construction of the gas hub is currently underway.

In May, following negotiations with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Javad Oudzhi informedthat the parties are discussing the issue of joint development of ten new oil and gas fields in Iran. In July 2022, the Iranian oil company NIOC and Gazprom signed memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the oil and gas sector for $40 billion.
