Intel co-founder Gordon Moore dies

Gordon Moore has died at the age of 94. In 1968, he co-founded Intel with Robert Noyce (1927–1990), which is today one of the leading manufacturers of microprocessors. Company reportedthat Mr. Moore “died peacefully on March 24 surrounded by family at his home in Hawaii.”
Mr. Moore was born in San Francisco on January 3, 1929. In 1957, he co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor, the world’s first integrated circuit suitable for mass production. Founder of “Moore’s law” (“The number of transistors placed on an integrated circuit chip doubles every 24 months”).
Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce founded NM Electronics in 1968, which was later renamed Intel. Mr. Moore worked in it for 38 years, until 2006, including the positions of executive president, CEO, chairman of the board of directors. Forbes estimated his net worth at $7.2 billion in March.
