Sales of insulin (a hormone that regulates carbohydrate metabolism; drugs containing it are prescribed for diabetes mellitus) for 9 months of 2023 decreased by 10.6% to 11.8 million packages compared to the same period last year. This is indicated in the report of the marketing agency DSM Group, which Vedomosti reviewed. It notes that this is the lowest figure in at least the last five years (the company did not conduct such studies before 2018). In the first three quarters of 2022, insulin sales, according to DSM Group, amounted to 13.2 million packages, and for the same period in 2021 – 13.4 million.

This product is mainly sold through government procurement, recalls Nikolay Bespalov, development director at RNC Pharma. Through this channel, sales in January-September 2023 decreased year-on-year by 8.4% – from 11.9 million packages to 10.9 million packages, according to DSM Group.
