Indonesia is considering buying Russian oil

Indonesian President Joko Widodo did not rule out that his country would buy Russian oil in order to curb rising energy prices. According to him, the government must find a solution to meet the energy needs of the population.
“We are always monitoring all options. If there is a country that offers the best price, of course,” Mr. Widodo answered the question Financial Times about whether Indonesia will buy Russian oil.
In August, Bloomberg informedthat Russia offered a discount on oil up to 30% on long-term contracts for Asian countries, including Indonesia. Meanwhile, US authorities urge Indonesia to agree to impose a ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation. G7 countries agreed the introduction of this measure on 2 September. As part of this mechanism, from December 5, also will be banned sea transportation of Russian oil.
