Moscow and Jakarta are discussing the possibility of accepting Mir bank cards in Indonesia. This was announced by the Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia Jose Antonio Morato Tavares “RIA Novosti”. According to him, sanctions against the Russian payment system may affect the decision.
“In Russia and Indonesia, there is a special mechanism in which officials discuss the banking and financial systems, and now they are negotiating with each other on this issue,” the diplomat said.
He said that he recommended that Jakarta introduce the Mir service in Indonesian banks, noting that this would be useful for tourists from Russia and would contribute to the development of tourism in the country.
When asked about the sanctions against Mir, the ambassador replied: “This is one of those points that may affect the process of considering a decision. I really hope that we will host Mir in Indonesia.”
