Accounts Chamber: average pension by 2026 will be below 30% of the average salary

In the coming years, pensions in Russia will grow faster than inflation, but wages will grow faster. Thus, the ratio of the average pension to the average salary will be below 30% by 2026. This follows from the conclusion of the Accounts Chamber on the draft budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund in 2023-2025, which drew attention RBC.
The size of the average pension compared to the average salary has been decreasing in recent years: in 2017 it was 35% of the salary, by the end of 2022 it should be 31.4%.
According to RBC, from January 1, 2023, pensions for non-working pensioners will be indexed by 4.8%, from January 1, 2024 – by 4.6%. The total amount of indexation for two years (taking into account indexation carried out ahead of schedule from June 1, 2022) will be 20.58%. The Ministry of Economy predicts an increase in the average salary by 25% by 2025 (up to 80 thousand rubles). At the same time, it is noted that in 2018 Russia acceded to the International Labor Organization Convention on Social Security Minimum Standards. The document states that the old-age pension should be at least 40% of the lost earnings.
How the portal drew attention Finanzthe government in the draft budget of the Pension Fund of Russia predicts a reduction in the number of pensioners by the end of 2022 by 415 thousand people, in 2023 – by another 868 thousand (up to 40.72 million).
According to Rosstat, the trend towards a decrease in the number of pensioners in Russia began in 2019. Then Russia adopted a pension reform, according to which the retirement age was raised from 55 to 60 years for women and from 60 to 65 years for men.
