Indie GO launches accelerator for video game development – Kommersant

The founder of the community of independent game developers and CEO of Mensa VR, Vladimir Varenik, announced the launch of an accelerator for video game developers on December 17 at the Russia exhibition, this is stated in a message from the Video Game Industry Development Organization received by Kommersant.
It follows from the message that the project involves an educational program, as well as legal and accounting assistance to participants in establishing legal entities and protecting intellectual rights. Mr. Varenik explained to Kommersant that following the results of the program, it is planned to hold pitch sessions with Russian and foreign video game publishers.
Over the past month, this is already the second project related to supporting independent video game developers in Russia. Thus, on December 11, representatives of VK.Play, Astrum and the Association of Operating and Game Development Industry Professionals announced the launch of the “indie incubator” Prototype.indie. A joint statement from the companies said that the project involves “daily work with the indie developer community,” as well as meetings with experts who will talk about methods of attracting investment.
On November 9, as Kommersant learned, a closed meeting of officials and representatives of the gaming industry was held at the government coordination center, organized by the office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The parties discussed the prospects for implementing the initiative to transfer the servers of foreign companies developing online games to Russia, as well as to create a regulator for them.
