In the central districts of St. Petersburg on the evening of May 4, there were problems with geolocation in mobile applications, reported “Fontanka” with reference to eyewitnesses. Previously, Muscovites faced similar problems.

So, residents reported that the navigator showed their location at Pulkovo airport, despite the fact that they were physically located in the center. Another user told the publication that the application for renting electric scooters showed her a free scooter in the center of the Fontanka riverbed.

For Kommersant correspondents, all taxi, food delivery and geopositioning services worked properly on the evening of May 4, there were no problems with the speed and accuracy of determining the location.

Recall that on the afternoon of May 4, users of Citydrive carsharing, Yandex services, as well as Whoosh and Citymobil services reported about massive geolocation failures on the maps of Moscow. Yandex reported that this may be due to GPS malfunctions.
