In Russia, from February 1 to August 1, an experiment will be held to introduce a system that eliminates the technical possibility of selling expired goods and illegal tobacco products. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, reported government press office.
“The main objective of the experiment is to work out a mechanism for exchanging information about labeled products between retail outlets and an information system for monitoring the circulation of goods subject to mandatory labeling,” they said.
The experiment will affect some types of dairy products, bottled drinking water, beer and some low-alcohol drinks. Smoking, chewing and snuff tobacco, tobacco and non-tobacco smoking blends for hookah, as well as electronic tobacco heating systems were selected from tobacco products. Products that are not allowed for sale will be tracked using the marking means of the Chestny Mark system.
The experiment will be held on a voluntary basis, the government stressed. If successful, in the near future, cash registers will begin to block the sale of expired products and illegally put into circulation goods.
“Honest Sign” is a unified national system for digital marking and tracking of goods: a special digital code helps to distinguish a fake from the original and provides access to information about the product manufacturer, shelf life, time and place of production or sale, and other information about the product. Information about each movement of such a digital code is stored in the state database. The purpose of this system is to fight unscrupulous manufacturers and their low-quality counterfeit products.
