In Russia, there may be a shortage of winter diesel

This year in Russia there may be a shortage of winter, frost-resistant diesel, said the president of the Russian Fuel Union (RTS), Evgeny Arkusha. According to him, Russia has always lacked winter diesel, but it was replaced by other types of fuel, which this year almost all are exported.

“The situation with winter diesel, that is, with frost-resistant grades of diesel fuel, causes some concern. There have always been problems with him in our country, he has always been lacking. I’m afraid that some difficulties may arise this year as well. Previously, the so-called middle distillates, or substitutes for diesel fuel, helped, but now they are practically absent on the domestic market – they are all exported, ”said Yevgeny Arkusha in an interview with radio Sputnik.

According to him, Russian manufacturers continue to export winter diesel in large volumes. “Because of this, our wholesale and retail prices for diesel fuel are significantly higher than for gasoline, which is generally not normal,” he said. Mr. Arkusha believes that it is possible to prevent the shortage of winter diesel by purchasing this fuel in Belarus. He added that the authorities are already discussing this issue.

Earlier, Kommersant learned that Russia could increase the import of Belarusian fuel. A similar initiative is being discussed in the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance of Russia. According to sources, Russia intends to expand supplies amid problems with the sale of Belarusian refineries, which worsened after the cessation of fuel exports to Ukraine amid Russia’s military operations in that country.
