The second version of the FPV kamikaze drone “Gadfly” was launched into small-scale production, said Andrey Ivanov, head of the design team-manufacturer. He clarified that the first modification of the Gadfly remains the main working device.
“An unmanned aerial vehicle “Gadfly” version 2.0 has been developed and launched into small-scale production. This is a device with a modified electronic filling, with a new propeller group, as well as a number of “curiosities” that cannot be discussed,” Mr. Ivanov told RIA Novosti.
“Gadfly” works on the principle of First Person View (FPV, first-person view). The drone of the first modification costs about 40 thousand rubles, the second – about 65 thousand. The Russian military uses these drones during the military operation in Ukraine in the Avdeevka and Zaporozhye directions.
In June the government approved Strategy for the development of unmanned aircraft until 2030. According to the document, within six and a half years, a new branch of the economy related to the creation and use of civilian drones should be formed in Russia.
