In Russia, for the first time, a protocol was drawn up against Apple for not removing prohibited content

An administrative offense case filed against Apple for not deleting prohibited information (part 2 of article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) was received by the judicial district of the justice of the peace No. 422 in Moscow. The press service of the court reported “Interfax”. This is the first case of drawing up a protocol on Apple in Russia.
Offense under Part 2 of Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for punishment for legal entities in the form of a fine in the amount of 800 thousand to 4 million rubles.
Today, June 20, for not deleting information was the first time fined Viber messenger. The reason was the order of Roskomnadzor to remove information about the military operation, which the department considered false. Viber’s defense during the court session indicated that the information was in Ukrainian, but the company nevertheless removed it from the search in the territory of the Russian Federation. The company also stated that there was no technical ability to remove communities.
For refusing to remove information about the military operation, the courts in Russia also fined the social network Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned), the messenger Telegram and fund Wikimedia (owner of Wikipedia).
