The Ministry of Digital Development reported that during excavation work, the ground part of the main communication line between the settlements of Ust-Bolsheretsk and Dalniy in the Kamchatka Territory was damaged. According to message press service of the department, the Internet will be restored “in the very near future.”
“Rostelecom’s operational services are already working to eliminate the accident. Currently, cellular communications and telephony are working in the region, and calls to emergency services are also available,” the Ministry of Digital Development reported.
Earlier this morning, network access monitoring organization NetBlocks reported a collapse of Internet connections at several providers throughout the Kamchatka Territory. A NetBlocks post on the social network X (ex-Twitter) states that the failure was the fault of Rostelecom, the cause was damage to the ground part of the underwater fiber-optic communication line (FOCL).
Later Interfax with reference to the authorities of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, he reported that interruptions in the Internet were observed throughout the entire peninsula. According to the agency, residents of Anadyr and Ugolnye Kopi temporarily lacked Internet and cellular communications.
