Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, during an open dialogue in the Federation Council, said that in 2023, oil exports from Russia decreased by 3.3%, to 234.3 million tons (in 2022 – 242.2 million tons). According to the data presented by Mr. Novak, oil and gas condensate production last year amounted to 530.6 million tons – 0.9% less than in 2022. Such data is contained in the presentation presented by Mr. Novak, which is quoted by the state agencies RIA Novosti and TASS.
Primary oil refining in 2023 increased by 1.2%, to 275 million tons, follows from the presentation of Alexander Novak. In 2022, this figure was 271.9 million tons. Gasoline production increased by 3.1% compared to the previous year – to 43.9 million tons, diesel fuel – by 3.5%, to 88.1 million tons.
At the same time, he noted that the government had taken all necessary measures to supply the domestic market with fuel: gasoline supplies in January increased by 7%, diesel by 17%
On November 30, following the OPEC+ meeting, the alliance of exporting countries agreed on a voluntary reduction in oil production by 2.2 million barrels per day (b/d) at the beginning of 2024. On the same day, Mr. Novak announced that Russia would increase the reduction in oil exports to 500 thousand b/d (300 thousand b/d of oil and 200 thousand b/d of oil products) until the end of the first quarter of 2024. Then it was clarified that “the reduction will be calculated based on the average level of exports for May and June 2023.”
